Orthograph Set 1

Image
My key feature in the animation will be this mushroom made to look like a strawberry to show visually that the mushroom is a fruit of the mycelium below. Each part of the mushroom has a distinctly different colour than each other. The Happy pills are going to represent the spores of the mushroom. Each side has smiled on it representing the next stage.

Matt Painting

Image
I've made the matt painting flat looking to mix both 3D and 2D animation to help with the aesthetic of surrealism and psychedelia. Quite often in Psychedelic media both 3D and 2D are mixed and melded. This is the first of the series of matt paintings I will be using. I will place this as a dome in the scene. I am conflicted as to whether i will use the matt painting as a skydome or use separate lighting in the animation to help with the visual confusion of the animation.

Influences

Image
My main artistic influence for my animation is psychedlic art and the idea of drug trips, making an engaging visual format for explaining a relatively, at least in my opinion, boring subject. Works from people like Skotch on youtube and Felix Colgrave. With odd articulation and ways that subject matter moulds together to make models characters and visuals.

Mushroom Life Cycle Concept Art

Image
I began working on small pieces of concept art. I have decided to look into the life cycle and reproduction of Fungus and Mushrooms. I thought an interesting aesthetic to go about with would be psychedelia due to the particular affects a certain mushroom, known as magic mushrooms have on the human brain as well as the general aesthetic that is associated with them. Because I am using drugs as a form of subtopic this video will be aimed at young adults, perhaps at the end of sixth form or start of university. I want to make the animation as fun and memorable as possible yet still informative; using narration and visual metaphors.
